Summer at the pool – EXHIBITION OPENING
Rachel Burke has been an Artist for most of her life. She experiences artistic phases where she is compelled to
This Exhibition has been made possible thanks to funding she received from NTRA to create a body of Epoxy Resin works.
Rachel has mixed, poured, and painted with her (gloved) hands, she doesn’t use paintbrushes. She applies the Epoxy mix bit by bit, then uses a fire torch to activate the ingredients,
sometimes over burning the resin, it is a process of pouring layer after layer. Feeling moved by the colour, the feel of the Epoxy/Paint mix.
Rachel has always been inspired visually by the weather and the look of nature, the sky, sun, clouds, dirt, trees, water, night sky, fire, the ambiance of sunrise, and sunset.
One of the most powerful childhood memories she has is spending an abnormal amount of time at the local swimming pool, getting really cold in the water then lying on the boiling hot concrete with the burning sun warming her up, she would do this all day long.
The bold block colors she’d see were sometimes too much to
contemplate. The blueness of the water with its long black lines on the bottom of the pool, the greenness of the grass, bluest of blue sky, the beautiful yellow sun…….Wow, amazing….
