The Free Methodist Choir perform songs from the tradition of Congolese gospel music. Rhythmic, spiritual and uplifting, this music is at the heart of life and worship in Darwin’s Congolese community.

Largely drawn from the Congolese refugee community, many of whom have fled from the devastating Congo wars, the choir has been performing since 2019.

Finding a new home in Darwin, they have maintained a cultural expression rooted in the musical and spiritual traditions of their homeland, and added more colourful terrain to the complex multicultural landscape of our city.

With a strictly limited number of people in the audience, a complete ban on all devices, and with the chairs a meter apart, you are left alone, with no distractions, to fully immerse in the performance.

3:30pm Doors open. Come early and enjoy a chat.
4.00pm Doors close and the performance begins.
5.00pm Discuss your experience with the artist.
5.30pm Event ends.
