In the 1990s and 2000s Darwin was home to a thriving classical guitar community and a first class International Guitar Festival, at which the greatest guitarists in the world played, to the delight of perspiring locals.

The key figure in this story was Adrian Walter, who was in Darwin from 1990 – 2008 before leaving to become Head of the ANU School of Music and later Director of the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts.

This classical guitar evening at DCA features three of Adrian’s former students, whom are now seeking to re-establish a fledgling Darwin Classical Guitar Society and ultimately return Darwin to its rightful place at the centre of the classical guitar universe.

With a strictly limited number of people in the audience, a complete ban on all devices, and with the chairs a meter apart, you are left alone, with no distractions, to fully immerse in the performance.
