EXHIBITION OPENS Friday 4 June 6-8pm
UNTiTLED gallery+studio (3/1 Caryota Court, Coconut Grove)
The sun is setting on Ranger uranium mine and the town of Jabiru.
This exhibition takes the built environment of Jabiru as a starting point from which to explore the town’s hidden past and augur what the future may hold.
Originally built as a closed town for workers of the mine, Jabiru has since become a focal point for thousands of people who visit Kakadu every year as well as home for many Indigenous and non-indigenous people who moved to the town in order to access facilities and employment.
With the mine going into rehabilitation, much of the town’s employment and infrastructure will no longer be provided by the mining company.
What will the new dawn bring?
