Auspicing (Administering) Grants

Darwin Community Arts Inc (DCA) is one of several bodies approved by the NT Government and the Australia Council as an incorporated association which can auspice or administer sponsorship and grants on behalf of individuals and unincorporated bodies. Most State and Federal rules prevent payment of grants or sponsorships directly to individuals or unincorporated groups. DCA is able to auspice grants on your behalf.

Our responsibility primarily extends to providing, at the completion of the project, a certificate which indicates that all grant monies have been expended only for the purposes intended. You need to prepare the artistic acquittal report yourself - we can provide some assistance if necessary. We can provide this service for a basic administration fee negotiated with you in advance, so you can include it in your application budget.

If you require support or services additional to financial monitoring, please discuss these with us. Obviously if your application is successful, we will need to have details of the grant and budgets etc. If any assistance is desired with this, or with other aspects of administration, please don't hesitate to ask us.

At this stage of the application, it is only necessary for us to indicate our willingness to administer a grant should it be successful. Our agreement to do this is not necessarily an endorsement of the project, and it is not necessary for you to provide us, at the first stage, with a full copy of your application. On the other hand, if you would like us to cast our eye over the application or assist in any of the application processes.

You do not require a letter of support from us. DCA is not part of the assessment process, which is undertaken by Departmental Officers who make recommendations to the Minister. If you think a letter of support may assist, we would need to be provided with details of the application, and fully informed regarding the project and its processes. When you have secured the funding, DCA is pleased to be able to auspice your grant and we hope that your project is successful.
