When DCA had the opportunity to host Melbourne Hip Hop Artists Elf Transporter and Taka earlier this month we jumped at the chance. Darwin doesn't get many touring Hip Hop artists, and Malak gets even fewer opportunities to hear quality Hip Hop.

Young people from around Malak and beyond came down to join in a two hour workshop on August 6th with Elf and Taka. The workshop explored the history of Hip Hop, Beat Boxing, Hip hop Culture, DJing, Freestyling, and provided the opportunity for up and coming MCs and Vocalists to take their turn on the Mic. DCA hopes this is the first of many events where young people from around Malak can come together through Hip Hop performance. 

After the workshop the doors were opened to the general public and Elf and Taka put on a great show for all. Hopefully we'll see them back before long!
