Bubble blowers were the hit of the day at the DCA Harmony Soiree exhibit this year. Of course the great fun with making a bubble blower is actually blowing all those bubbles once you have made your blower.

2016 Seabreeze Festival

DCA at the Seabreeze Festival 2016

The annual Seabreeze Festival provided an opportunity for DCA to display and engage people in various art forms. Weaving, painting and samples of origami were popular with the passing public. The event was well attended until a heavy shower of rain forced an early closure.

Zoltar at DCA

Zoltar is now at DCA! Zoltar is a fortune-telling machine (based on the old Zoltar machines) using the Modulo from this Hackster guide. The Modulo is a modular electronics system that makes it easy to assemble electronic devices. To learn more about Modulo visit modulo.co. DCA works with the Modulo and other devices such as the Arduino and the Raspberry Pi through its Frontline Project.

Community Dinner in the car park at Malak

Around 450 people or more joined us in the car park for the annual open air Community Dinner. With plenty of space to perform, the Top End Mustangs Line Dancers  and the aerobics class from the CDU gym showed everyone how fit they were with their entertaining performances.

The refurbished Malak Community Garden was officially opened by the Hon. Johan Elferink as Minister for Correctional Services after extensive work by DCA Volunteers Linda and Jeanice, workers from Correctional Services and their teams, DCA staff  and other volunteers.

The July Community Dinner saw lots of people dancing with Quito and the Swing Dancers while sponsors NTAHC provided valuable information on Hepatitus and Aids.

As usual the food  provided by MSK chefs and volunteers disappeared quickly as everyone queued for a delicious meal.

NTeen Sewing workshops

As part of NTeen Fashion Week 2015, Our Common Threads ran workshops for teenagers to create fabulous outfits for the runway.

Inviting food at the community dinner

Another successful community dinner with lots of comments about the delicious food. Around 155 people attended for a chance to mix with friends and neighbours while they enjoyed the food and entertainment.

Community Dinner May 2015

Tarantella dancers at DCA community dinner

Tarantella Dancers wowed the DCA May community dinner audience with a fast moving display of traditional Italian dances. On an evening of dance and song the Keltikka Irish Dancers, Shel O'Toole and the DCA Jam Band all played to an audience of about 140 people at the Chambers Crescent Theatre.
